Thank you very much! A lot has changed since the 80’s. I remember my mom had a car phone and Dad had a beeper for work. My elementary school got its first computer lab (boxy cream-colored Macs) when I was in 3rd grade. RUclips existed but was nothing special when I was in college. 🙃

@@DroppedTales I was right at the cusp of manual drafting and CAD-CAM. After about 18 months of manual drawing, I was READY to teach myself CAD and dive in. Never looked back until the last few weeks. Drawing by hand is calling to me again - I love the tactile feel of it.

I think I did a loooong time ago. Is your obi new?

Bought 2 obis (cotton - 2 yrs ago & polyester - 1 yr ago). I've been using polyester one for the past year because it's easy to wash. Yesterday I tried cotton one for the first time in a year and it didn't make much noise, so it's probably polyester that causes the squeaking noise.

Problem solved. I tried a polyester obi once and it didn’t squeak, but it definitely made noise. Now i stick to cotton or silk.

Hahaha, it’s cute that you think I wear all these layers during the summer. XD

Thank you very much. I replied to your other comment as well, but I made the blue montsuki myself. I probably got my obi at a store in Nagoya, but you can get kakuobi from several different online stores like Seido and Tozando.

I made it about 10 years ago, but I used something from the suiting material.

The ones on most of my montsuki are embroiled.

I don’t know about other iaido groups and federations, but in Seito Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu and in Zen Nihon Iaido Renmei, women can wear tabi socks any time. It’s actually expected. Men, on the other hand, can’t until their a bit high ranking. I always forget exactly what rank, though.

It was fantastic. The DVD of the performance is available on Amazon.jp, but it’s pricey.

Women’s juban are also sometimes folded this way to keep the collar smooth. Some people sew a stiffener into it instead of using a removable one.

Thank you! It was originally a women’s yukata I got for 500円 used in Nagoya. I cut it at the knees and sewed the sleeve openings shut to make a casual summer keikogi.
